The Whistleblower
David Grusch is a former Air Force intelligence officer and the National Reconnaissance Office's representative to the UAP Task Force. In 2023, he made the extraordinary claim — under oath before Congress and on the record with national security reporters — that the U.S. government is in possession of multiple non-human craft recovered over decades, and is operating a reverse-engineering programme hidden from congressional oversight.
Grusch filed a whistleblower complaint with the Intelligence Community Inspector General, which found his allegations "credible and urgent." He subsequently testified before the House Oversight Subcommittee in July 2023, becoming the first official to make such claims under oath and penalty of perjury.
The Allegations and the Denial
The Department of Defense denied Grusch's allegations. It did not explain the Inspector General's finding. Grusch has stated that individuals have been harmed — and in some cases killed — to protect the secrecy of these programmes. Whether his claims are ultimately validated or not, his testimony represents a watershed moment in the official history of UAP disclosure.
