The Intelligence Chair's Concern

Senator Mark Warner of Virginia served as Chairman of the Senate Select Committee on Intelligence — the body with the broadest oversight responsibility for the intelligence community's most sensitive programmes. In that capacity, Warner received classified briefings on UAP at the highest available level and has expressed genuine concern about what those briefings revealed.

Warner has been notably measured in his public statements — choosing words carefully and declining to speculate beyond what he can assert from his briefings. That caution, combined with the seriousness of his expressed concern, has been read by UAP researchers as indicative of briefings that were genuinely alarming.

The Oversight Mandate

Warner's committee has jurisdiction over the programmes that Grusch and other whistleblowers allege exist. His access to the most sensitive intelligence about UAP — and his subsequent decision to prioritise the subject within the Intelligence Committee's agenda — reflects a level of institutional seriousness about UAP that would have been inconceivable a decade ago.
